In the fediverse since 2017. I mostly talk sports. If something on the internet doesn’t spark joy, mute it.

Do not yell at me simply because I am in front of you and the people responsible for the problems are not. It is extremely unpleasant.

  • I have played probably a dozen Legends of Zelda over my lifetime and I could not explain a single thing to you about the lore. When I was talking with my friends about the new Legend of Zelda movie, someone mentioned that there are multiple generations of Link and Zelda, and not just the same Link and Zelda falling in to some kind of cryo sleep or being reincarnated or whatever and it was literally the first time I tried to piece together the lore and like… there’s nothing in my memory but 3 decades of skipping dialogues as fast as possible. Did we ever find out conclusively if all of reality is but a dream on the eyelid of the wind fish? Hell if I know, even though I played that game through like six times.

  • There’s no need to be sarcastic; I want you to be more persuasive because I completely agree with you that it is unreasonable to expect private citizens to be able to do things like: notice a full-grown man in rollerblades on the side of a highway, or notice you have collided with a rollerblader, or safely overtake a rollerblader, or notice that the rollerblader is no longer visible and is instead dying on the side of the road. People can’t do this if they are 32 or 82 – there is too much going on with their phones and their infotainment panels and the complex road conditions. You just gotta say it with your whole chest: no-one can reasonably be expected to safely operated a motor vehicle.

  • Safe spaces, in my mind, are ones that are free of any language that could be construed as harmful, whereas a comfortable space is one that is free of any language that any member construes as harmful. Like, as a concrete but contrived example, I would expect a policy like: if anyone is uncomfortable, we’ll enforce that everyone says “person experiencing homelessness,” but until then, we understand that that being policed is uncomfortable and you can feel empathy and still say “homeless person,” so we’re allowing that, even if it is strictly speaking a signal of a safer space.
