Vice City and San Andreas are the only two titles of the series I regularly return to.

Really? My prediction when the game was revealed to be a digital code only, I thought there will be a Collectors Edition later for maybe 180 maybe 199 Euros / Dollars with the game on disc included. And this would be a controversy for the high price. But they did it, they overshadowed my prediction. Wow… just wow.

I think a lot of people will be very angry with the game, I predict further outrageous gouging at every opportunity if this is any indication. Like having-to pay-to-reload-your-gun-kinda gouging.

AFAIK, not the first game to sell a tat-collection without a game, and imo, not entirely unreasonable - but before my crucifixion, hear me out: The tat-box is platform agnostic, and can arrive whenever and the customer is playing their game on whatever platform they wish (or, can) when it’s sold separately. If you absolutely need to have the collectible tat, no need to wait (as long).
But… 400 units of money for that tat? AbsofuckinglutelyNOPE.
Yeah, the only reason I would want them to add the game license in, is that the price is far too high for what you get.

But does the stuff HAVE to look so tacky and cheap? All artwork looks extremely uninspiring. The sun and the manatee look like some lame AI art.
People will buy it, complain about its quality and get refunds or alternative products through a long-ass process, keeping the game in the media long after most people are done with it. Obviously I’m catastrophizing a bit, but it’s hard not to be cynical about stuff like this.

Not defending it, in any way shape or form - but the regular versions of the included Oakley Frogskin sunglasses retail for almost half the price of this “CE”.
Not sure exactly why they decided to do this - but I can imagine this (in conjunction with the ludicrously overpriced vinyl set) is intended to milk as much money out of the most die-hard fans as quickly as possible to appease shareholders and recoup the supposed $2b budget.
Yeah, I really don’t get those sunglasses. I’m not even sure, if there’s Vice City branding on them. I guess, if they did some funky design, people might not have wanted them, but buying fairly generic sunglasses in an expensive bundle is also silly.
As best as I can discern, they have custom palm tree art on the arms with a custom pink Oakley logo, standard prizm sapphire lens, custom Vice City engraving on the lens.
So not something that can be 1:1 replicated with their customiser tool, but you could get pretty close.
Ah, I did not see the engraving on the lens. Maybe it’s more visible in person, but it sure looks more like Oakley merch…
