After watching nearly two straight years of this shit, I want to see results that fix some of these problems and stop the bleeding. I give less than a shit if we all kumbaya our way there together.
Well, the better way forward would be acknowledging that the Democratic party isn’t a party and building the institutional infrastructure to respect that this is a coalition of several entirely distinct constituencies with very different views and restructure internal party politics to reflect that. Right now, the problem is the Democratic party doesn’t actually HAVE a platform. It has a platform statement, most of which the “party” will never achieve because there isn’t a single plank that is supported by every congress critter. About the only thing we all agree on is “Not Trump, not now, not ever” and why is entirely up to the individual.
We also have to come to grips with the fact that what the donors want, and what the voters want, are entirely different things and both sides of that are impotent without the other. We have witnessed what happens when money runs the show. Voters don’t show up and chaos ensues. We also know that without money, organizing becomes impossible in an economy where any kind of volunteer service costs individuals a whole lot more than just some free time.
Why go against Trump when you can slander democrats and advertise third parties that have no chance to begin with?

if the democrats actually distinguished themselves from the republicans it would motivate people to vote for them. the party most responsible for demotivating people is the democrats, rather than owning that their loyalists prefer to blame anything else.

No, that is not how it works. If I want a filthy street to be clean, then not adding more trash is not a solution. You have to actually remove existing trash. Voting the same party again that has failed people now and in the past is simply not the solution. If you vote shit instead of garbage because shit is at least compositing… the street stays filthy.
