Look what your inaction has gotten you, Americans.

You deserve every bit of it and will 100% allow it to continue escalating far beyond this. Watch.

At this point the best case scenario is that you implode so horrifically that you become a really good cautionary tale for the rest of the world’s countries who keep flirting with legitimizing MAGA wanna-bes.

I’m a queer, trans person married to a first generation Latina with a disabled child. What exactly do you think my family did to deserve this? Voted in every election I’ve been eligible to for years, protested whenever I can, I donate to food banks and bail funds, donate to people in other countries in need, trained myself with self defense, shit, I even lost a DAMNED good job by standing up for my rights and got blacklisted from my last industry, live in fucking fear of my passport getting revoked because I’ve got the “wrong” marker for my gender and I DARE to use the toilet in public. I cannot apply for asylum from quite a few countries and even if I could then not without giving up my home, MY home, my family, my friends, my community. Fun fact, most countries won’t touch a queer asylum case from the US with a ten foot pole.

What, EXACTLY, did I do to deserve this? What did my DISABLED CHILD do to deserve this? What, pray tell, did my community, my immigrant in-laws, DO to deserve what’s going on right now?

Or are you just saying a country of over 300 million people with literally millions facing down oppression and fascism that we just deserve to get murdered in the street?

They’re just mad they might have to get up off their ass and deal with fascism knocking on their door. They don’t know their privilege, nor how it dwindles daily. It’s easy to scoff at the suffering of strangers.

What the fuck do you think the average person has the ability to change in America? Corporate America knows this because they own the politicians and have enough of a monopoly that they don’t really care if their viewers leave for some other channel or product. They own part of that too!

Fight them and you will have to deal with all their lawyers and bullshit.

the 19th century people in Europe were in the same situation. They managed to protest, riot and eventually change things. They also had to work, had families, faced violent law enforcement. We’ve been enjoying the results of their bravery for over a century now. Americans only have excuses and believe bravery is shooting someone who can’t fight back.

You didn’t accomplish anything because it was a damn party, not a protest. You think the 19th century protests were just some people complaining? It took decades and involved a lot of state violence.

It’s not just not-easy. It’s not financially or logistically feasible for most of us. And then what would we hope to accomplish without resorting to armed violence? I’d rather lay down and die than take another person’s life, no matter what they did to earn it. You say I did absolutely nothing, but only because I didn’t start shooting people. What I did was resolve to not let these nazis change me and my morals, to continue fighting ideologically, making the world better through my actions, and refusing to accept any justification for taking up the enemy’s toxic weapons.

Oh, it’s not easy? You think those people in the 19th century were rich? How come you go from passively subjecting to shooting people in one go? There are plenty of ways to protest. Just look at all the protests that have happend in Europe. Plenty of that would work in the US too.

There’s your mistake. It’s naysayers saying people like me aren’t doing anything. It’s they who have to explain what more they expect from me that doesn’t include violence.

No Kings were cute little parades scheduled in advance once every 4 months. You brought your little kids, had live music and barbecues.

“Look at what our adorable milquetoast bare-minimum performative bullshit accomplished. Nothing.”

It accomplished SOMETHING- it emboldened the fascists who now how little they have to fear from you and it helped white liberals congratulate themselves, satisfied that they sufficiently signaled that they’re the “good ones.”

Project 2025. They learned from history. This does not go this well without prior atrocities to learn from. The current regime is not inept or uneducated. Frighteningly the opposite. I would LOVE to see how nineteenth century Europe would fair in these exact conditions at this time. Because I cannot tell where this all is going. History may rhyme but it rarely repeats the same beat.

Hahaha. The population is allowed hunting rifles and pistols, nothing full auto.

How are they going to go against the militarized police, national guard, and army? This ain’t GTA IV.

There is nothing the population can do against the armed forces of the government. Not to mention all the surveillance and intelligence that government uses to coordinate against threats.

Good luck fighting all that. Who will run out of bullets first?

The difference is we don’t make excuses for our history. We don’t go to court to make sure our schools hide it. We don’t call historical fact “anti-Canadian” because it makes us uncomfortable. We don’t mistake national mythology for patriotism.

Canada has blood on its hands. We know. We teach it. We argue about it in public. We dig up the graves.

And if fascism comes for us, our highest political principle will not be keeping ourselves comfortable while somebody else pays the price. We have guns, and ours aren’t just for show.

We know that only one thing ever stopped Nazis- and we will deal with ours while you accommodate yours.
