No, turkeys who tell lies are often heading down a bad road. They won’t turn out well at all. It’s a shame. You used to be able to trust a turkey, not these days.

I don’t know. I’ve never had one talk to me about recipes. They must be thinking about food, though. Because they say ‘gobble gobble gobble’ a lot.

IMO yes, or better. I also cook mine upside down. If you don’t need to present it later, the breasts will just simmer in juice the whole time.

Do you simply assume that everybody knows what that means, or do you not care?

Cutting out the turkey’s spine and then flattening it out. It cooks a lot quicker and none of the skin is pointing down so it all gets crispy. Bonus points if you stick a half a lemon under the skin on each breast. If it looks too offensive for a guest, give it a bacon bikini.

I figure everyone reading that who is interested is already online on a device that can provide definitions and detailed video instructions on how to do it. Much better than I could.

I had only had from frozen turkey before. A friend gave me a turkey he got from work that he didn’t want. Fresh never frozen bird. It was BY FAR the great turkey I’d ever had. You’d think it was a different animal, so tender and juicy.

Probably never having one again though because they’re much more expensive lol. Hopefully my buddy gets more free turkey!

I’ve always thought recipes that insist on thawed food and preheated ovens, do so only to ensure the prescribed cooking time is correct.

I cook frozen stuff all the time. I never pre-thaw unless I need to manipulate it in some way that I can’t as a solid frozen block. Like, you can’t stuff a frozen turkey for example. Put a frozen hunk of meat in a cold oven? You won’t notice in the end, if you pay attention to it.

They are concerned about bacterial growth. The phase change area from fozen to thaw takes more energy. As such you get the outside thawed and then starts cooking and moving along fast while it will take a long time to get the interior to thaw. They are worried about any part spending to much time in the danger zone temps. I honestly don’t know how much an issue it actually is. I kinda feel any part that reaches thaw will cook fast enough to be equivalent to thawed and anything not thawed is still frozen so safe as far as growth is concerned.

It’s safe to cook food straight from frozen, but it will take longer. Use a thermometer to make sure it gets to the correct temperature.
